Hadassa Roz is a theater director born and based in Brooklyn.

Hadassa (she/her) believes that theater is the truest vehicle for understanding the social world. She is inspired by stories that synthesize artistry and human expression through their theatrical form.

Hadassa is a recent graduate of Wesleyan University where she received a B.A. in English, with a concentration in literature, and Sociology, with a concentration in queer, aesthetic, and performance theory. Her thesis, “Gaudy Gods: The Unlikely Gay Icons of Dolly Parton and Tammy Faye Bakker” was awarded honors from the Sociology Department. The Wesleyan Theater Department awarded her the J.P. Adler ‘90 Memorial Fund Award for student directors.

Hadassa is a theatrical jack-of-all-trades and has experience in all sides of theater: acting, producing, development, dramaturgy, design, casting, stage management, and marketing. She loves contemporary fiction by non-men, reality tv, ice coffee, and dogs.

Assistant Director - Local Singles

Hadassa is serving as the Assistant Director for the off-Broadway premiere of Nick Navari’s new musical Local Singles at The Players Theatre in the Village. Learn more about Local Singles here.

Hadassa and her collaborator, playwright Vincent Langan, are currently developing his play Oh, Mufffy, which the duo premiered at Wesleyan University in the Spring. Stay tuned for more updates!
